The STAR (Scanning Technology for Accelerating RESET Program was initiated by the Tank-Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center (TARDEC) to help the Army meet the RESET Mission. The program evaluated the feasibility and benefits of 3-dimensional (3D) laser scanning technology to address Reverse Engineering (RE) and Quality Assurance (QA) processes in a manufacturing environment. The program addressed this challenge by integrating laser scanning technology with current manufacturing processes in use at the Anniston Army Depot (ANAD).
