ATI’s Alastar Recognized by Government Security News

Software a Finalist in Homeland Security Awards

Summerville, SC – ATI, today announced its situational awareness and social media intelligence software, Alastar, has been selected as a 2014 Homeland Security Awards finalist by Government Security News (GSN) in the Best Regional or National Public Safety Communications Deployment category.

The finalist recognition was based on Alastar’s regional deployment during the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival, a world-class music event that draws 100,000 people for 4 days and nights to a small 700 acre farm in rural Tennessee. Public safety agencies used Alastar at this event to overcome information gaps between disparate agencies. Increasing interoperability resulted in an open channel to share real-time, rich data from top-down and across each agency. The constant cycle of real-time communication data delivery between Command and Control and ground level personnel increased interoperability and enhanced the ability to be aware of, and react to, complex situations. The big picture was accessed in real-time to optimize resources on mobile devices, in vehicles and the video wall in the Command Center.

“We are honored to be recognized by GSN for the deployment of Alastar,” said ATI Vice President and Alastar General Manager Mark Aukamp. “The software provides dynamic situational awareness to end users in public safety and large corporations so their teams may better predict and respond to various security threats and situations.”

The GSN 2014 Homeland Security Awards Program honors the distinguished vendors of IT security and physical security products and solutions, and the dedicated federal, state, county and municipal government agencies, whose combined efforts keep our nation secure. The 2014 Distinguished Panel of Judges included Chuck Brooks, VP Homeland Security, Xerox Corporation; Scott Greiper, Founder and CEO of Security Strategy Group, Inc; and Denise Rucker Krepp, Attorney, Professor at George Washington University, Consultant to DOT, DHS clients.

Now in its sixth year, the GSN Homeland Security Awards Program is widely considered to be the most prestigious awards program covering the broad Homeland Security field.
