ATI’s Dick Tiano Named Partner of the Year by SME

Charleston, SC – SCRA’s Dick Tiano has been named “Partner of the Year” by the SME Education Foundation for his volunteer service and work with schools, community, and industry throughout the year. SME Education Foundation selects one company and one individual from its over 20,000 members to receive this honor. The award was presented at the SME Annual Conference in Detroit earlier this month.

Tiano, a Senior Program Manager at ATI, is responsible for the technical management of programs related to manufacturing, supply chain solutions, technical data solutions, digital work instructions and other miscellaneous engineering solutions. Dick has been a member of SME since 1986 and has chaired the SME Charleston Chapter since March of 2012.

Part of the SME Education Foundation mission is to bring manufacturing knowledge into schools and communities in order to support Science, Technology, Engineering & Math (STEM) initiatives in local schools. Tiano gives many hours of his free time to mentor middle school and high school students in First Lego League, First Robotics and VEX Programs using his manufacturing expertise.

“I have a passion for the younger generation and to see that they are well-educated in what manufacturing has to offer,” Tiano said. “I am honored and humbled to be selected to receive this recognition from SME.”

“We are delighted that Dick has received this well-deserved award,” said SCRA CEO Bill Mahoney. “ATI supports both him and the mission to encourage STEM initiatives in our local communities to strengthen our future leaders in South Carolina’s Knowledge Economy.”
