MTEC members awarded to advance treatments for repeated mild traumatic brain injury

Astrocyte Pharmaceuticals and the University of Kentucky (partnered with Mitochon Pharmaceuticals) are working diligently to advance the development of drug treatments for repeated mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI).  Each received $500,000 awards co-funded by the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium and BrightFocus Foundation to support preclinical studies, preparation for clinical studies, and submission of an IND application.

Making noise in manufacturing – first Forging Industry Association competition

Teams of up to four students and one faculty advisor had the opportunity to compete for the chance to win recognition and prizes at FIA’s May 2023 Forge Fair Each team forged two tuning forks to an assigned low and high frequency, with a total of nine teams competing. Of the nine teams, three of the teams are from universities FDMC has active projects with.

Life-saving pharmaceutical combats opioid exposures

Tasked with delivering a life-saving pharmaceutical to combat opioid exposures, the ROCS team not only delivered a therapeutic, but also a prophylaxis. This lifesaving capability limits the risk of military personnel and first responders becoming non-ambulatory due to opioid exposure. Using innovative strategies and partnering with kaléo, the team accomplished their goals ahead of schedule and under budget, satisfying both demanding DoD acquisition criteria and FDA regulatory processes.

SHIC focuses on senior population health

The Senior Healthcare Innovation Consortium grew in membership from 15 to 95 members from August to November 2022. As a proof of concept for a potential Government customer, the Consortium published an RFI about technological opportunities to reduce the number of medications used by the senior population.

AMTC supports Army’s Future Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System effort

The U.S. has awarded contracts to five companies for its Future Tactical Unmanned Aircraft System (FTUAS) Increment 2 effort. The awards were issued through an Other Transaction Agreement with the Aviation & Missile Technology Consortium, an ATI collaboration.
