The Access to Advanced Health Institute announces $9.9M award to develop a nasal spray influenza RNA vaccine through phase 1 clinical trials

The Access to Advanced Health Institute (AAHI) announced today that it has been awarded a project agreement worth up to $9.9 million through the Medical CBRN Defense Consortium (MCDC) Other Transaction Authority (OTA) to develop a prototype intranasal bivalent influenza RNA vaccine candidate based on AAHI’s self-amplifying RNA (saRNA) platform that targets both pandemic A(H5N1) and A(H7N9) influenza virus pathogens.

Lockheed, Verizon pitch 5G-enabled ‘all-domain’ capabilities to DOD

A key component of the 5G.MIL effort is Lockheed’s ongoing work to develop a 5G communications infrastructure testbed for the Marine Corps at Camp Pendleton, CA, after winning a $19.3 million DOD contract. Called the Open Systems Interoperable and Reconfigurable Infrastructure Solution, the testbed prototype project agreement was awarded to the company in November 2021.

NSWCPD awards its first contract through the Other Transaction Authority streamlined contracting vehicle

Naval Surface Warfare Center, Philadelphia Division awarded its first contract under the Other Transaction Authority (OTA) for the design, development, and delivery of a small actuator test stand to evaluate electrohydraulic actuators through the Maritime Sustainment Technology Innovation Consortium (MSTIC) on June 9, 2022.

NSWC IHD holds NEST collaboration event

To date, 83 SONs have been solicited through NEST, and they have received 227 whitepapers. Twenty-seven projects are currently in the award process with a total expected value of more than $180 million, and the first awards are expected to be finalized in the next few weeks. The event was the third in a series of collaboration events to promote NEST.

Army asks industry to develop handheld sensor to help care for military burn victims on the front lines

This handheld device is for Army battalion aid stations, brigade support aid stations,and field hospitals for triaging and evacuation decision making. Officials of the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC) in Summerville, S.C., issued a request for project proposals (MTEC-22-08-BDA) on Friday for the Burn Digital Assessment project.

NuCressTM bone scaffolding solution for healing bone trauma on the battlefield and beyond

These efforts have been successful, and Dr. Biris’ university spinout venture NuShores received a fourth award in FY20 by the U.S. Army’s Medical Research and Development Command’s Clinical and Rehabilitative Research Program (CRMRP) via an Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) competitively awarded through the Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC). This transition of the initial NuCressTM manufacturing process from the JWMRP to the MTEC focuses on the optimization of the manufacturing process by investigating multiple and consecutive iterations of automation to improve quality, cost and efficiency. The deliverable is to demonstrate the feasibility of producing the NuCressTM bone void filler scaffold by a fully automated, intelligent production system with real-time in-process quality monitoring and control.
