Advanced Technology International (ATI) is proud to have been named as one of the “Best Places to Work” in South Carolina for the fifth consecutive year. SC Biz News, in partnership with the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and Best Companies Group, releases the annual list to recognize the best employers in the state. Eighty-one companies made the 2021 list, including perennial awardee ATI. In the large employer category for businesses with more than 250 employees, ATI ranked 18th.

A two-part evaluation process is used to determine the Best Places to Work. The first part examines companies’ workplace policies, practices, philosophies, systems and demographics. The second part measures the employee experience through a robust survey. Scores are combined to determine the top companies and final ranking. Ranked companies were recognized Thursday evening at an awards ceremony at the Columbia Convention Center and will be published in the August issue of SCBIZ Magazine.

“Our talented team members have catalyzed and sustained ATI’s success for more than 20 years,” said Chris Van Metre, ATI President and CEO. “This is an accomplishment that we’re all ecstatic to share.”

ATI’s philanthropic spirit has contributed to a healthy work environment. During the COVID-19 pandemic, funds that would normally be used to purchase food for in-person meetings were instead donated to local nonprofit organizations. In total, more than $75,000 has been donated. Additionally, employees enjoy an annual benefit of volunteer paid leave to serve an organization of their choosing.

Last year, employees created the IDEA (Inclusion Diversity Equity Advancement) Council to ensure every employee feels a sense of belonging and has the ability to influence change. Everyone is encouraged to find his or her “why” for working at ATI. Employees often credit the camaraderie, working alongside fellow veterans and the impact of our various programs as what they gravitate towards. No matter the job title, ATI’s collective work ultimately enables the warfighter, saves lives and diversifies the industrial base, and that mission resonates with staff.

ATI is a nonprofit corporation that builds and leads research and development collaborations on behalf of the federal government. Fueled by a community of experts from industry, academia, and government, ATI uses the power of collaboration to help the federal government quickly acquire novel capabilities to solve our nation’s most pressing challenges.
