Will Provide Support for Small Business Programs

ATI announced a recent win of $857,394 to provide program management support for the Navy Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) programs. The task order award was made by Engineering Services Network, Inc. based in Arlington, Va. The program is sponsored by the Office of Naval Research.

The SBIR program is a highly competitive program that encourages domestic small businesses to engage in federal research and research and development with the plan to commercialize their technologies and innovations. Through a competitive, awards-based program, the program enables small businesses to explore their technological potential. By including qualified small businesses in the nation’s research and development arena, high-tech innovation is stimulated and the United States gains entrepreneurial spirit as it meets its specific research and development needs.

The STTR program expands funding opportunities in the federal innovation research and development arena. The unique feature of the STTR program is the requirement for the small business to formally collaborate with a research institution in Phase I and Phase II stages. This program bridges the gap between performance of basic science and commercialization of resulting innovations.

“This award demonstrates our continued success in managing important federal programs,” said ATI President Chris Van Metre. “Throughout our three business sectors, ATI has helped take high-tech innovations out of the lab and into the commercial marketplace, and this Navy award builds on our expertise in the technology implementation arena.”
