Advanced Technology International (ATI) today announced that Chris Van Metre will step down as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and that the Board of Directors has unanimously appointed John Jansen as CEO and a member of the Board, effective July 2024.   Van Metre will join ATI’s Board of Directors after he steps down.

“It has been a privilege and honor to serve as the CEO of ATI,” said Van Metre. “Working with the ATI team, our customers and consortia members has been simply amazing, and I remain steadfastly committed to the ATI mission.  We accomplished a lot together and I am very grateful to have been part of the journey. Knowing there is no perfect time to leave, I am grateful to have the opportunity to leave with ATI strongly positioned to continue delivering high impact support to its customers. I am excited to watch it happen.”

Charlie Young, ATI’s Board Chair said, “On behalf of the Board, I want to thank Chris for his visionary leadership and unrelenting dedication to ATI since joining the company in 2005 and being appointed CEO in 2012. Chris’ inspirational leadership of ATI through unprecedented growth has been remarkable. We are pleased that he will continue to be part of the ATI team as a Board Director.”

Young also noted, “John Jansen is a proven leader and, in just a short time, he has developed a keen understanding of ATI, its history and its compelling value in the innovation ecosystem.  The passion he demonstrated throughout the extensive interview process assured the Board that he is the right person to lead ATI as its CEO going forward.” He continued, “John will take ATI to even greater heights and enhance the value delivered to all of ATI’s stakeholders.”

“I want to thank the Board for their confidence in my leadership and Chris for his continued support and partnership,” said Jansen. “I look forward to building on everything ATI accomplished under Chris’s leadership, and I am incredibly energized by the opportunities ahead. The ATI team will continue to deliver tremendous value for our customers and members as we execute collaborative R&D management services in responding to our nation’s greatest challenges in these increasingly complex times.”

John Jansen retired from the U.S. Marine Corps in 2021 as a Lieutenant General after 35 years of faithful service. A decorated combat Marine fighter/attack pilot and carrier pilot, his experience includes assignments as the Deputy Commandant for Programs and Resources, Chairman of the Board of Directors for Marine Corps Community Services, and Commandant of the Eisenhower School for National Security and Resource Strategy.  He most recently served as the Managing Director of the EMEA business unit for Luminator Technology Group, a Blackstone portfolio company.  John is a graduate of Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business, Harvard Business School’s General Management Program, the NATO Defence College in Rome Italy, and the Navy Fighter Weapons School (TopGun).
