In order to guarantee that the FLRAA and FARA ultimately yield fieldable platforms, and that the other three capability sets are eventually developed, it is imperative that the programs maintain the promising path they’re currently on.
The USG used both the VLC OTA, and the AMTC OTA as the means to obtain an impressive amount of collaboration from 14 industry and academia partners working together as a seamless team. The approach demonstrated the effectiveness and usefulness of an OTA to obtain coordinated, broad-based input and support from industry partners throughout a very large breadth of domain specific expertise.
The U.S. Army's Aviation and Missile Research, Development and Engineering Center awarded a new 10-year $2B OTA to the Aviation and Missile Technology Consortium (AMTC).
The Army came to the ATI-managed Vertical Lift Consortium (VLC), asking VLC members to form teams and send in short summaries of their project ideas for five separate Topic Areas of Interest in less than 30 days.
